    In responding to the emerging challenges to education in Asia and the Pacific in this new century, this Asia-Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID) book series, "Educational Innovation for Development," is launched to reflect a knowledge base of rethinking on roles of education in development. The series intends to disseminate . Towards universalization of primary education in Asia and the Pacific, country studies--Republic of Korea.

    The results of an APEID (Asia and the Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development) workshop on producing textbooks and other teaching and learning materials, especially in reading, for the first level of education are provided in this book. An initial overview presents the objectives and the organization of the workshop. The second part of the report . The UNDRR Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) supports disaster risk reduction efforts across the Asia-Pacific region.
